As the first phase in a city-wide public transportation improvement scheme a high-quality passenger experience and exemplar design was needed to attracted people away from their cars. The location of the stations was optimised to maximise the operational and passenger benefits.

Value was maximised throughout the design process by developing standardised details to achieve a consistent and cost-effective line wide identity. By selecting appropriate materials and systems from local sources a robust design strategy was developed, supported by a series of design standards and specification to maintain alignment and design quality.

The design of the stations reflects the local climate conditions with low energy passive ventilation and environmental control measures, creating an elegant and economic solution. The stations act as central hubs for connectivity, integrating high-quality urban realm centred on the principles of transit-orientated development.
