Old Street Station Entrance shortlisted for 2025 AJ Architecture Award
The AJ Architecture Awards recognise excellence in UK architecture across a range of sectors.
Old Street Station Entrance has been shortlisted in the Infrastructure and Transport category in the Architects' Journal's annual awards, which highlight the very best new projects in the UK. A total of 120 projects were shortlisted across 19 categories for the 2025 edition.
Old Street was recognised for its ability to bring light, nature, and tranquillity to a busy London hub. Working within inherited constraints, our design introduced a glass façade, improved sightlines, and a sculptural tree structure that supports a biodiverse green roof.
Prefabricated offsite using innovative methods, the tree mimics organic growth and supports sustainable drainage. With 85% less concrete than originally planned and 45% increase in natural daylight, the project is acclaimed for environmental innovation, embodying our core values of being people-focused, inventive, and responsible.

We're extremely grateful to the AJ Awards team for recognising the project. This prestigious shortlisting is a testament to how WW+P embraces constraints to deliver innovative, thoughtful design. It reflects the passion, dedication and talent of our team who brought this project to life through commitment and creativity.
Dan Moor, Global Head of Design

The winners will be revealed at a prizegiving ceremony on 27 Nov 2025 at Royal Lancaster London.
The shortlisting follows Old Street's other recent accolades, having been shortlisted for two categories in the World Architecture Festival 2025 (WAF) Awards: in the Completed Buildings: Transport category, and for special prize Small Project of the Year.
