Lawrence East wins in Global Architecture & Design Awards 2024
Lawrence East - Transit Oriented Community (TOC) has won a Global Architecture & Design Award in the Mixed Use (Concept) category as part of the Rethinking the Future Awards.
Lawrence East was recognised for a First Award for being a key milestone in urbanizing a busy vehicular intersection near York General Hospital, Bendale Park, and a new underground metro station.
The transit-oriented mixed-use development connects pedestrians to the area, ensuring smooth movement across high-traffic streets. By integrating with the adjacent transit station, the design improves street-level connections and accessibility. Balancing varying scales on each corner, the project serves as a crucial gateway, enhancing pedestrian flow and supporting the neighborhood’s growth.
Rethinking the Future (RTF)'s Global Architecture & Design Awards (GADA) recognises projects that are stepping towards a more sustainable future. GADA, now in its 17th year, analyses and compares the works of architects and designers under the rubric of sustainability and innovation.
The awards is raise awareness around the strategies Architects and Designers are employing to deal with the contemporary global challenges, and to bring the best of such projects into the light to inspire the next generation.
This award is a testament to the TOC program’s mission to address the housing shortage through socially accessible, community-focused responses. It reflects our collective dedication to delivering thoughtful, reserved fabric architecture, grounded in people-centered design and mobility expertise. It’s a moment of pride for all of us and reflects the design and passion that drive our team every day.
