Byford residents have been given their first look at the suburb’s new METRONET Station.

The new station is part of the METRONET Byford Rail Extension, which will connect Byford, one of the fastest growing suburbs in the country, to Perth CBD in just 42 minutes.

Three platforms will serve both Armadale line passenger trains and Australind trains, with seven bus stands providing onward connectivity. Overall, the station complex will accommodate 400 parking bays including ACROD bays and secure shelters for 100 bicycles.

The design of the station has been shaped by community feedback, with a focus on safety, access and connections to public spaces. Public art has also been incorporated to reflect the areas’ local identity, native flora and fauna and Aboriginal culture.

Transport Minister Rita Saffioti said the new station would spark opportunities for growth in the area for years again.

“Included in the design is well-designed lighting and CCTV, which will support community safety in and around the station area,”

“The proposed design will give the community modern new facilities and connect Perth’s south-east to the CBD for a quick, reliable and cost-effective journey.”

Weston Williamson + Partners is designing the station with Hames Sharley, as part of the Laing O’Rourke, Pritchard Francis Consulting and KBR consortium.
