The station design accommodates a number of transport facilities among the lower levels of the station with links to metro lines, underground network and the airport, making inward and onward journeys efficient and comfortable for all.

The design elevates and celebrates the station’s viaduct identity and parallels the original function: providing ancient communities safe access across challenging terrain and bodies of water, and connecting communities across Wenzhou and beyond. 

Openings within the roof form allow light to permeate down to the lower station levels, illuminating the station hub and metro mezzanine levels with natural lighting via integrated light wells in the floors. These same openings also provide passive integration of actuated openings for smoke exhaust in the emergency scenario of a train fire.

Through the geometry of the roof forms and pitches, rainwater can be collected into roof gutters and re-used for the irrigation of station planting and landscaping. There are also photovoltaic panels that harvest solar energy all year round to help with the station’s energy requirements. The use of overhanging ribbons in the roof provides adequate shading to minimise solar gain, and water ingress through the open sides at platform level.
