People-focused

The River Han has always been a valuable resource for the people of Seoul, our ferry terminal places the river once again at the centre of social life. A publicly accessible roof level viewing deck offers expansive views across the water. A portion of the river is encircled by the terminal, creating a unique, water based public space that forms the focal point of the design and reinforces the connection to the River.

Inventive

At the heart of the design the circular body of water using filtered and treated river water to create water clean enough for people to swim in. The terminal itself is designed to be ultra-light weight to minimise construction material whilst ensuring buoyancy.

Responsible

The water encircled by the terminal becomes a special ecological zone where local flora and fauna can thrive. Upon arrival and departure people will come in close contact with native species that have long been part of the river’s history but are now struggling to survive because of human intervention.
