People-focused
Science City aims to make science accessible to all and inspire future generations. The new campus creates an environment conducive to discovery; where the boundary between private research spaces and public exhibition environments is blurred and visitors are encouraged to freely explore.

Inventive
Although complex in appearance, the design is deceptively simple; a series of linear buildings are laid out at regular intervals and divided by shaded green avenues that draw in prevailing winds to passively cool the spaces. A meandering public Science Garden cuts through these buildings at first floor level forming a walking loop offering expansive views over the exhibition halls below.

The overall impact is one of great elegance and finesse

Responsible
The simple array of rectilinear buildings minimises cost whilst enabling effective construction sequencing in 3 distinct phases. The project is proposed to be constructed from rammed earth with material sourced from the site and its surrounding context to minimise embodied carbon.
