People-focused
The Docklands Light Rail (DLR) is a key component of London’s infrastructure, enabling major events like the London Olympics and acting as a catalyst for growth across the line. The lines pass through distinct communities and landscapes, with each station integrating into the urban fabric with designs that reflect and enhance local characteristics. Our simple, legible linewide designs maximise natural daylight to enhance the passenger environment.

Inventive
All the stations embrace a kit of parts approach to design and construction. Modular construction and prefabrication provide a cohesiveness to the route, while allowing flexibility to reflect local personality. Working with specialist manufacturers we finessed the cladding systems, using large scale prototypes to refine details creating timeless structures.
A simple, elegant design, providing a strong and integrated addition to the legacy of the Olympic Park.

Responsible
The delivery of multiple DLR stations provided the opportunity to tailor the application of line wide circular economy principles (optimization, standardization, modularity, and adaptability), to specific site requirements. Design for life cycle generated stations that accommodated predicated future growth while not being over designed for the current demand, safeguarded space for future expansion, while limiting demolition and rebuild.
